 Answers

Is colon hydrotherapy safe?
Yes, in fact, the Angel of Water system is safer and easier then the common enema.

How does a colonic compare to an enema?
An enema only reaches about the first 8-10 inches of the colon, whereas with colon hydrotherapy the entire length of the colon is reached and it is many more times effective.  According to Dr. Norman Walker, “One colon irrigation is equivalent to 30 enemas.”

Do the treatments hurt?
No, in fact many people report their sessions are both refreshing and relaxing.

Is there any possibility of bacterial or viral contamination from prior use of the colon hydrotherapy equipment?
No, the Angel of Water system uses single-use, sterile rectal nozzles.  The use of sterile disposables coupled with the implementation of the Angel of Water’s multi-stage sanitation protocol leaves no danger of contamination.

Does having a menstrual period at the time of a colon hydrotherapy session have any effect on the experience? No, some consider it a good time to have a session since your body is already in cleansing mode. Your flow will not interfere with the success of the session.

What should I do to prepare for a colon hydrotherapy session?
Refrain from eating about 2 hours before the cleansing, be as relaxed as possible and maintain a positive mental attitude.

What can I expect after the session, can I go to work?
Everyone is different, but most experience a feeling peace and well being. Some report slight tiredness, but this only last for a short time. Yes, you can work and return to your normal daily activity

How many colon hydrotherapy sessions should I get?
The recommendation based on research is a series of twelve sessions. Two the first week, one today/one tomorrow, two sessions the second week, and one a week for the next eight weeks. The reason for that is the human body is exceptionally smart.  When we clean out the colon, the body starts pulling waste out of the tissue and putting them into the blood stream. The waste heads from the liver, than back to the colon.  Therefore, the second Colon Hydrotherapy session is necessary so that the digested waste is eliminated rather than reabsorbed. The same reason applies to the following two the second week.  After the first four, it is recommended one a week for eight weeks.  The slow detoxification to a gentle-tolerable rate.

Here is a podcast featuring experienced Naturopath and Chiropractor Dr. Russell Kolbo, who has been practicing Colon Hydrotherapy for 44+ years in his clinic in Washington State. James Maskell and Russell Kolbo have a very broad discussion on the value of this modality in a modern practice. They discuss the emerging understanding of the microbiome and how the naturopathic community was way ahead of the curve when it comes to understanding its role in regulation of health.
