This assessment we offer at The Nutrition and Wellness Center measures personalized nutrition at the cellular level. It is a simple blood test that can be used to identify food and other factors that induce innate immune system activation. The core technology measures the body’s cellular response to challenges from a wide array of substances including foods, food additives and colorings, molds, environmental chemicals, medicinal foods and herbs. This assessment will be performed by a Phlebotomist and sent to a laboratory.
Julie also performs an in-office assessment called Applied Kinesiology. Here muscles become monitors of stress and imbalance within a person’s body there by providing a tool for detecting and correcting various imbalances. These imbalances may be related to foods/drinks, nutritional imbalances, microbial stress, chemical stress, environmental stress, emotional or physical stress, injuries, or learning problems.
The Roman poet and philosopher, Lucretius said, “What is food to one man may be bitter poison to others.” Now more than ever, diet plays a critical role in preventing a wide range of degenerative diseases and premature aging. The immune system is a double-edged sword. It should react appropriately and protect against infection when confronted with harmful invaders or “infectious agents” like viruses or bacteria. Unfortunately for some, exposure to common foods, chemicals, molds, and herbs, may trigger chronic activation of the immune system.
If you are constantly sneezing, wiping your nose, scratching somewhere, watching hives or acne break out, then you may be showing sensitivities to foods or environmental elements. Often people come in with allergy symptoms and want to begin with assessing for which ones they have. The most important place to begin is with an overall healthy system. When the main pathways of drainage are blocked, the secondary ones will begin to express themselves such as sinus drainage. Getting the body draining and moving is of utmost importance first, them we can see where the true sensitivities are.
